Wildearthproject delivers sessions all through spring , summer and Autumnm, and in half terms and school holidays . Please subscrbe to the website to get info on all our dates and events . Click here .   These are full day sessions mostly but can be a couple of hours after school to .

In April we will be starting a new club in Devon in Huxhams cross , 5 mins drive from Totnes  and the old one in Frome will be running to .

These events will support the kids, not only through physical skills that they will learn, but mentally and  internally, generating vitality at a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level. They will be more happy, confident, empathetic and grateful for life generally!

We aim to give you and the children a teaching system that will get them to think for themselves. we will be there as guides to show them the way, but in the end it's up to them to work out the mysteries of the natural world.

We are a Paleolithic school looking to enhance people's lives through working with the earth around us , slowly building up an encyclopedia of knowledge about the natural world , expanding our confidence , our zest for life and inspiring us to live and dream more .

We will slowly cover all the subjects of thriving in the wild, including fire, water, foraging, herbalism, archery, bows, arrows, baskets, shelter, trapping, tracking, stalking, stealth movement, camouflage, bird language amongst many other subtopics of survival.

What happens at the clubs?

The clubs are intended for kids to come long term for real value and learning that can turn into held wisdom , knowledge of their place in the natural world and the beginnings of real connection with the plants , trees, animals and wilderness living. Its a whole Indigenous education system , passed down from elders from a Native American lineage , but the teachings are really the purest principals and common threads that come from tribes all over the world . The children will learn the cycles of plants , wild food , nuts, berries , mushrooms, plus all the practical knowledge of woods and trees and what they can be used for in a survival setting.
The days are a mix of play , rest and practical hands on learning, always with a fire on the go and some primitive cooking if we find food in the wild to cook .
Slowly we will delve into each survival subject for some weeks , building up an enycloepedia of knowledge within the students. Meditation, storytellling and immersive nature connection are the backbone of this kind of mentoring, inspiring through story and the secrets of the elders.

We generally spend the first hour  playing ninja / jedi / wide games , lots of running around or opposingly learning how to be very quiet , through the process of stalking and routines of invisiblitity. The games can sometimes be very challenging and wild , giving the opportunity for the kids to expand their comfort zone . Games including rites of passage shall be presented if they come for some time .
We usually go on a small wild food walk every time we meet , because this is a huge subject that needs to be gone over, again and again. In the afternoon we get into the skills of the day with a gratitude circle either at the beginning or the end of the day or both !

An atlatl is an ancient survival projectile weapon used for hunting, warfare, and sport. Atlatl artifacts have been found on almost every continent and were only overshadowed by the invention of the bow & arrow. Below I'll share a bit of its history and detailed information on how to make your own.

Interesting Facts about the Atlatl
There are still cultures that use atlatls (also known as spear throwers). In Australia, the aborigines use a type of spear thrower called a woomera. It consists of a long dart up to ten feet and a handle. Woomera handles are multifunctional, carved into a concave elongated shape used not only for throwing a spear, but also used to hold water, food/plants, or as a club for combat or a killing blow to a wounded animal.
Some were also equipped with a flint blade on the end of the handle. They are the Swiss army knives of the primitive world. In Australia the bow was not used, the hunters were so proficient with the woomera there really wasn’t a need.

You will leave with a fully working atlatl and a dart at the end of the day .
