What is the English Bow Making Workshop?

Come to the wilderness and learn this ancient technique, connecting to your bow, the wood and putting your soul into something that hopefully will last your whole life.

Bow making is one of the finest craft skills to have under your belt ,as it takes many years to refine the techniques of carving and wittling wood of different grains, sizes amd shapes. You hopefully will find a hobbie for life, as the more you make , the more you will get excited and inspired to create more bows. The sky is the limit with these beautiful works of art!

This is one of the most profound projects you can undertake in Bushcraft, it pushes us to be patient, to work slowly and with definite precision, to be aware and most importantly to connect with nature. It is a very tricky and art form and not for the faint hearted.

This will be a 5/6 hour workshop on learning how to make a flat/long hunting bow of around 20-25 pounds , this is the crudest form of a bow and is the easiest, simplest and quickest to make in the wilderness and is a very important type of bow to master for when you are in dire circumstances!

I will give a full axe and draw knife safety and spoke shave lecture, and explain proper use of them. Then you will start to work on your own piece of seasoned chestnut , and i will take you through all the processes of layering out the bow ,shaping the profile, floor tillering and eventually tillering. Under full guidance ,you will slowly wittle away your own bow and we will endeavour to give you a solid foundation of bow making from start to finish so you can go home and make more!

Payment methods:  I would prefer a transfer from bank to bank please if possible to avoid fees, and keep course prices down!
